Valley of Flowers Overview

Bestowed with an abundance of exotic Himalayan flora, the Valley of Flowers is a bouquet of nature peacefully perched in the West Himalayan region of Uttarakhand. 

With a stunning backdrop of the mighty Himalayan ranges, the Valley of Flowers National Park presents an ethereal view and an unforgettable experience for visitors. Spread over an area of 87 sq km in the Chamoli district, this glaring piece of nature is an Indian National Park and a UNESCO World Heritage Site exhibiting plush meadows blossomed with endemic alpine flowers and diverse fauna in this valley.

As the name suggests, Valley of Flowers is a destination where nature blooms in full glory offering a breathtaking experience. Exotic flowers with over 600 species like orchids, poppies, primulas, marigold, daisies and anemones are an eye-catching spectacle. 

Sub-alpine forests birch and rhododendron cover parts of the park's area. The trek to the valley offers eye-catching spectacles like cascading waterfalls and wild streams.  

Situated at an altitude of around 3,600 m above the sea level, the valley is also home to such rare and amazing wildlife species like the Gray Langur, the Flying Squirrel as well as Black Bear, the Red Fox, the elusive Snow Leopard and Himalayan Monal, to name a few.

The trek of Valley of flowers goes through dense forests, along with Pushpawati river and can be reached by crossing many bridges, glaciers and waterfalls on the way.

    Join the group at New Delhi and proceed to Haridwar in the afternoon. Overnight halt at Haridwar.

    Early morning departure from Haridwar and head for Joshimath. In-case the travel permits early arrival at Joshimath, one can visit Auli in the evening, if possible.

    Joshimath to Ghangria - Today we first travel  20 kms by bus up-to Govindghat & then commence our 1st day of the arduous trek to Ghangria from Govindghat. The trek distance is roughly 14 kms and passes through the Himalayan forests laced with streams and beautiful surroundings.

    Today is the day of the eternal experience of visiting the Valley of Flowers. We start our trek early morning from Ghangria to Valley of Flowers, a beautiful carpet of multi colored flowers. We spend the entire day in the valley & return to Ghangria in the evening for the night halt.

    Rest / Adjustment day.

    Ghangria to Hemkund & back (12 kms) - Hemkund is a beautiful holy lake situated at a height of 14,500 feet. We have to climb continuously for 6 kms to reach the heavnenly Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara. We conclude the exhausting day at Ghangria for the night halt.

    Today we start our descent to Govindghat and proceed to Badrinath for a night halt. The holy temple can be visited in the evening if time permits.

    Badrinath to Mana village & back - Mana, the last village on the Indian side of China border is just 3 kms from Badrinath. We also visit the Ganesh Gufa, Vyas Gufa & the origin of river Saraswati. Night halt at Badrinath.

    Badrinath to Haridwar - After a breathtaking time spent in the mountains, we return to the plains after having spent a few days in close vicinity of the Himalaya. In the evening we reach Haridwar - the city of temples and explore its rich diversity and the calmness of the Holy River of Ganges and its essence. After a quick refresh, we continue to retrace our steps back to New Delhi late in the evening.

    Arrival at New Delhi early morning and proceed for onward journey home.

    Important Note

      The railway reservations begin 120 days prior to the date of departure. Hence, all the participants who wish to join this programme from Pune are requested to confirm their participation immediately to facilitate railway reservations.
