Kedarkantha peak, situated in the mountains of the tons river valley is a beautiful ridge peak; easily accessible anytime of the year. In the winters it snows in this valley and hence views from the summit are rewarding. The trek goes through the Govind national park and gives you ample time to soak in the flora and fauna of this protected area. The summit lies at an altitude of 3850m and reaching the Kedarkantha summit is very satisfying as you are rewarded with views of peaks like the Swargarohini, Banderpoonch, Black peak and Ranglana.

    Join the group at New Delhi railway station at by 2pm and start your journey towards Dehradun by train. Overnight stay at Dehradun.

    We start early from Dehradun towards Mussoorie. The Sharp turns with a few hair pin bends are accompanied by an abrupt change in landscape as we quickly gain elevation. Mussoorie lies at a short distance of 35 km (22 Miles) from Dehradun and rises to in excess of 2,000 meters. We continue our drive inwards and soon are joined by river Yamuna a few kilometers ahead of Kempty Falls. We can take a quick break at Kempty to check out the waterfall which becomes crowded as the day kicks in. We drive further via Damta and Purola to reach the village Mori by late afternoon. The drive after Purola is through a beautiful forest of pine trees. The change in temperature of the outside breeze can be easily felt as we traverse through the forest. At Mori we come across the river Tons, which happens to be the biggest tributary of Yamuna and is well known for Rafting activities. We rest at night in Sankri Base Camp.

    Post breakfast we start our trek from Sankri and trek towards Juda ka Talab. The path goes through Saud village and is a gentle climb. We trek further through pine and oak trees to reach the campsite. We camp at this spectacular campsite for the night.

    We start the trek towards Kedarkantha Base camp post breakfast and reach by Lunch. Trek to the summit will begin post lunch. Base camp to Summit will take around 2-3 hours. On reaching the summit, you will experience a mesmerizing 360-degree view of the peaks of Uttarakhand and the Chaainsheel Pass and Kailash ranges of Himachal, along with a unique experience of the sunset and Golden peaks. From the top, you can also see the Har Ki Dun valley below. The Kedarkantha summit is marked by an arrangement of stones with a Trishul that points to the sky.

    Today we head down to Sankri. It takes about 4-5 hours to finish this 6 km trek route of the day. For the rest of the day, you can explore the village of Sankri. Overnight Stay in Hotel / Home stay at Sankri.

    Sankri to Dehradun bus journey. Overnight stay at Dehradun

    Proceed for Delhi by train in the morning. Arrival at New Delhi by 1pm and proceed for your onward journey back home.

Things to Carry: Kedarkantha Winter Trek

  • Rucksack (40 to 50 L) with sturdy straps and supporting frame.
  • Good qualty waterproof trekking shoes
  • 2-3 pair of track pants (at least one should be synthetic quick-dry kind).Track pants are light and we highly endorse them. Plus when things get cold you can wear one over the other.
  • 4 Full sleeve cotton T shirts with collar.
  • 2 full sleeve sweaters. A fleece jacket would be an alternative. 
  • A full sleeve thick jacket or down feather jacket.
  • 4 pairs of undergarments.
  • 1 pair of good quality thermal inners. (if required 2 pairs)
  • 4 pairs of sports socks. 2 pairs of woolen socks.
  • Woolen monkey cap and balaclava that cover the ear.
  • Woolen hand gloves + synthetic glove (water proof). If you don't have synthetic gloves, get two pairs of woolen gloves and a surgical glove.
  • Sun glasses (Avoid Blue Shades and Aviators)
  • A woolen head-scarf or muffler.
  • Trekking pole
  • Light towel (should be thin, quick drying kind).
  • Lip balm, Cold cream and sun screen lotion (SPF 40+).
  • 1 Water bottles (1 L ). The insulated water bottles are required to store hot water.
  • LED Torch with extra set of cells (head lamps preferable).
  • Personal toilet kit (minimal) and toilet paper.

Note : Extra Luggage can be kept at Base Camp in a separate Bag.

Fees Include

    • Transportation & common accommodation from Delhi to Delhi.
    • Vegetarian meals along the trek route from the Base Camp to Base Camp.
    • Sleeping bag, mattress, tents, kitchen tent, toilet tent, utensils and crampon (if required).
    • Professional outdoor experts, guide, cook and support staff. All necessary entry fees and permits.
    • First aid medical kit. Porters/mules to carry common equipment.

Fees does not include

    • Clothing of personal nature like trek shoes, kit bags, day packs, down jackets and other special clothing etc.
    • Meals during transit from Delhi to Base Camp and back,
    • Medical expenses (apart from first aid).
    • Insurance.
    • Any kind of shopping, mineral water, optional sightseeing, and any other expenses of personal nature.
    • Personal luggage with mass not exceeding 12 kg per bag per person can be carried by porters/mules @ Rs 300 per day per bag
    • Any expenses arising out of unforeseen circumstances like flight delay / cancellation / hike in fare, strike or any other natural calamities or any emergency evacuation expenses.
    • Any other item not mentioned in the cost include section.
