Dharamshala: Baleni Pass
What you will see
Baleni Pass is the erstwhile connection between the Chamba and Kangra districts of Himachal Pradesh. The Gaddi tribe used this pass for centuries to cross over with their sheep to and from these two districts. Standing tall at an elevation of 3730 meters, it is an ideal trek for beginners. The top offers exciting views of the PriPanjal and Dhauladhar ranges. It happens to be one of the most low laying passes and is situated at the base of Dhauladhar. Many streams originate from this part of the Dhauladhar as it is blocked on the North by the high ridges. A few well known of them are the Kareri Lake, Lam Dal, Nag Dal and Kali Kund, all accessible from the pass. You cross alpine pastures, woods, shimmering streams, and picturesque landscapes. Standing at top the pass and looking east, you see the Dhauladhar peaks forming a curve.
