Kedarnath Tungnath Chandrashila - Overview
Kedarnath - One of the most revered temple destinations of India, Kedarnath town is nestled in the mighty Garhwal Himalayas. The town, built around the revered Kedarnath temple, is located at an altitude of 3,580 m, near Chorabari glacier, which is the source of the Mandakini river. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, the ancient temple has exquisite architecture and is built of extremely large but evenly shaped grey stone slabs. A conical rock formation inside the temple is worshipped as Lord Shiva in his “Sadashiva” form. The Kedarnath temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is a part of Char Dham pilgrimage circuit, and is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva in India. Behind the Kedarnath temple, stand the Kedarnath peak, Kedar Dome and other Himalayan peaks.
Tungnath and Chandrashila - The Chopta - Tungnath - trek is the best destination for trekkers. The Chopta region has many treks and trails cutting through jungles and grasslands. Chandrashilla, Tunganath, and Devariyatal are the best-known trekking routes in the Chopta region. Because of an abundance of birds, Chopta is popular among birdwatchers. Nestled at the foothills of the Himalayas, rests a place of divine energies and enchanting nature popularly known as Chopta Tungnath Trail, situated in the Rudraprayag district. A trail that takes you through a forest full of rhododendron flower trees and wide grasslands. Not many people were aware of this ethereal place until it became famous for its picturesque views and activities related to trekking. It is the highest abode of Lord Shiva and upholds the dignity of one of the Panch Kedar. This trek is meant for both summer and winter activities where we can let ourselves be free from the city lives and sit in the lap of nature
